Square bird hides

Manufactured and erected for the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge, Gloucestershire in October 2008

 DSCN0077.JPG

Unusual 9.0m x 9.0m rectangular hide
with central open quadrangle supported
on tree trunks and with circular
entrance in one wall, which was built
of breeze blocks and then plastered
and painted.  Also, one facet of the roof
was covered with turf.

This was done in this way so that, when approaching the hide, along the access track, it resembles a Kingfisher nesting hole in an earth bank.
