Work has now finished on the new studio for BBC Springwatch at RSPB Minsmere
The studio is for the BBC Springwatch series 2014 and is situated at one of the most prestigious nature reserves in the country
The studio itself measures 10m x 9m and has a decked area measuring 10m x 5m, It has bi folding doors that allow a large part of the end of the studio to be opened out.
It also incorporates a flitch plate design for the roof beams and trusses and steel RSJ stanchions to support the trusses extending 1.2m into the ground.
The studio has been designed to be a temporary structure that can be easily dismantled for use elsewhere in the future and the site returned to its natural status.
Work commenced on 10/02/2014 and was completed on the 24th May
Above photo shows the roof truss flitch plate used in the studio.
This flitch plate was then sandwiched between 2 pieces of timber as shown in the photo below
The Flitchbeam roof trusses were then supported on specially made steel stanchions as shown in photo below
The following photo shows the flitch beams fastened to the stanchions with some of the studio sides in place
